Tallahassee, Fla. - M-Qube, a unit of VeriSign (NASD: VRSN) that aggregates billing services for mobile content distribution, has reached a settlement agreement with Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum, over unauthorized ringtone and other mobile content charges to customers' bills.

Gemstar Launches TV Guide Mobile

Los Angeles - Gemstar-TV Guide, a developer of electronic program guides for digital television services, on Tuesday announced the launch of TV Guide Mobile, a version of its TV listings for cell phones, in addition to a mobile TV version of its TV Guide Channel. Los Angeles-based Gemstar said it partnered with mobile firms including Roundbox, Alacre, m-Qube and mPortal to develop the services. The company said the new version of TV Guide Mobile will add the ability for users to schedule recordings of TV shows on their digital video recorders.

VeriSign Acquires Mobile Content Publisher m-Qube for $250 Million

Watertown, Mass. - m-Qube, a provider of mobile content, applications and messaging services, has agreed to be acquired for $250 million by VeriSign, a California-based provider of infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks. Mountain View, Calif.-based m-Qube is privately held and employs about 200 people in North America. Its customers include Sony Pictures, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, Reuters, and Telus Mobility, among others. The company's main investors include Bain Capital Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, Globespan Capital Partners and Sigma Partners.

GQ Magazine, m-Qube Launch GQ Mobile Service

New York - Men's lifestyle magazine GQ on Monday launched GQ Mobile, which will deliver weekly podcasts and other GQ content to mobile subscribers. The Conde Nast magazine, which claims 5.5 million readers, partnered with Boston-based m-Qube on the wireless service.

M-Qube to Sell "Sesame Street"-Themed Ringtones, Wallpapers

New York - Mobile entertainment and applications provider m-Qube announced on Wednesday that it has launched a Web-based mobile store featuring Sesame Street-themed ringtones, wallpapers and other content. Ringtones based on the show's theme song, in addition to tunes like "Rubber Duckie" and "People in Your Neighborhood" are available for between $2.00 and $2.50, with proceeds going to help fund educational programs for children around the world.

M-Qube to Distribute Mobile Content for Public Enemy Album

Boston - M-Qube, a developer of mobile entertainment and delivery applications, announced on Monday that it has partnered with hip-hop group Public Enemy to develop and distribute mobile content for the group's new album, "New Whirl Odor." Boston-based m-Qube will build mobile storefronts for Public Enemy's website, and also distribute polyphonic and master recording ringtones, full-track downloads and wallpapers to wireless network operators.

Boston -- m-Qube, a provider of mobile media management technology, has raised $10 million in a round of venture capital led by HarbourVest Partners. Boston-based m-Qube provides an interface for connectivity, content management, application development, monitoring, billing and cross carrier transport to allow companies to offer their customers mobile products including music, images, messaging and games. The company's strategic wireless partners include Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS, AT&T Wireless, among others. m-Qube said that the new funds will be used for strategic acquisitions.

The company's technology offers consumers a variety of mobile products including music, images, messaging, games and other mobile applications. m-Qube has the ability to distribute interactive content to more than 160 million wireless subscribers. Its strategic wireless partners include Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Sprint PCS and T-Mobile USA.

M-Qube Acquires Mobile Content Download Provider Sharp Robot

Boston -- Mobile application developer m-Qube announced on Friday its acquisition of Toronto-based mobile content download provider Sharp Robot. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Boston-based m-Qube provides connectivity, application development, monitoring, billing and transport to providers of mobile content like ringtones and games. The company said its purchase of Sharp Robot will provide additional mobile capabilities including content production, licensing, delivery and content publishing.
