Santa Clara, Calif. - Macrovision (NASD: MVSN), a provider of anti-piracy technology and informational media databases, announced on Friday that it has acquired website and technology assets from ThoughtWorthy Media, a platform that allows TV viewers to identify, research and purchase online the music, products and advertising they see on television.

Santa Clara, Calif. - Macrovision, a provider of copy-protection and game distribution technologies, on Wednesday announced an agreement to digitally distribute a selection of game publisher Activision's PC titles on its games network. The deal adds Activision's "Call of Duty" series, "Gun," "The Movies" and other titles to Macrovision's 1,700-title distribution network. The company also introduced a new Game Access Control service that lets game publishers distribute copies of purchasable game trials on peer-to-peer file-sharing networks.

Santa Clara, Calif. - Sonic Solutions, a developer of CD and DVD creation software, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with copy-protection technology developer Macrovision, to offer a platform allowing online retailers and DVD production facilities to offer custom manufacturing of secure DVDs. The platform will merge Macrovision's RipGuard and ACP technologies with Sonic's DVD On Demand, enabling websites and retail kiosks to produce DVDs that feature the same encryption found on mass-produced DVDs.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company said that it is selling the notes to qualified institutional buyers, and will use part of the proceeds to repurchase up to $50 million in stock. The news sent company shares up 7% in heavy trading on the Nasdaq.

Santa Clara, Calif. - Macrovision, a provider of copy-protection technology for CDs, DVDs and other media, on Thursday introduced its TotalPlay CD product, which it says allows consumers to burn rights-managed copies, and offers extras like lyrics, album art and unlockable Web content, while preventing unauthorized uses. The system allows tracks to be transferred to Microsoft-supported portable players, which excludes the iPod. Macrovision added that TotalPlay has been reviewed by third-party security firms and certified "spyware-safe" by a member of the Anti-Spyware Coalition.

San Francisco - Macrovision, a provider of anti-piracy and game distribution technologies, announced on Thursday that it has partnered with The Licensing Agency (TLA) to offer businesses a service that lets users try out and purchase a selection of PC video games. The games can be offered on CD, DVD or for digital download via a company's website. Macrovision and TLA said that graphics board maker Sapphire Technology is the first utilize the Gold Disk Promotion service, and has begun shipping game discs with 500,000 units of its graphics cards and accessories.
