San Francisco - A federal judge in San Francisco has allowed antitrust claims filed by two gamers against "Madden NFL" game publisher Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) to go forward, GamePolitics reports.

NFL Union Pays Retired Players $26M to Settle Lawsuit

Los Angeles - The NFL Players Association has agreed to pay $26.25 million to settle a lawsuit brought by retired NFL players, who alleged the union had excluded them from various marketing deals, including the use of their names and likenesses in Electronic Arts' (NASD: ERTS) popular "Madden NFL" video games, the Associated Press reported. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2007 by Hall of Fame quarterback Herb Adderley, on behalf of 2,056 retired players.

Orlando, Fla. - Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) has laid off an undisclosed number of staff from its Tiburon studio in Florida, whose team develops the popular "Madden NFL" franchise, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The cuts are a part of the company's previously announced plan to reduce its head count by about 10% and consolidate certain facilities.

Los Angeles - A number of retired NFL players have filed a lawsuit claiming that the NFL Players, Inc. and game publisher Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) conspired to deprive them of fees from the use of their likenesses in the wildly popular "Madden NFL" game franchise, GamePolitics reported.

Electronic Arts to Host "Maddenpalooza" at Rose Bowl

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts said on Thursday that it will launch the 20th anniversary edition of its "Madden NFL" football game with Maddenpalooza, a music, sports and gaming fan festival to take place August 11 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The event will feature live musical performances by bands from past and current Madden soundtracks, including Good Charlotte. The game will officially launch on August 12.
