iBiquity Licenses South American Manufacturer for HD Radios

Columbia, Md. - iBiquity Digital, the developer and licensor of digital HD radio broadcasting technology, said that it has licensed South America's Continental Lensa to manufacture and market its equipment. Continental Lensa, which is based in Chile with an additional facility in Brazil, becomes the first licensed HD Radio broadcast equipment manufacturer outside of North America.

San Francisco - Following an outpouring of negative publicity, the Chinese manufacturing plant Apple hired to make its iPods has largely taken the teeth out of a defamation lawsuit it filed against two Chinese journalists who reported on alleged sweatshop conditions at the plant, CNET News.com reported.

Beijing - Foxconn, the Chinese manufacturing plant that makes Apple's iPods, has filed a $3.75 million defamation lawsuit against two Chinese journalists who reported on working conditions at the plant, Wired News reported.

Cupertino, Calif. - Apple announced on Friday that an internal investigation into working conditions at a Chinese plant where its iPods are made found no forced labor, but did reveal workers exceeding limits of 60 hours and six days of work per week.

Taipei, Taiwan - Chinese electronics manufacturer Foxconn, which was reported last week to be submitting workers making Apple's iPod Nano players to "sweatshop" conditions, has denied several of the claims in the U.K. Mail on Sunday article, DigitTimes.com reported.

London - Apple Computer has launched an internal investigation into the working conditions at the Chinese plants where its iPods are manufactured, after an article in the U.K. newspaper Mail on Sunday reported that workers there toil 15-hour days for $50 a month in wages.

WSJ: AMD to Invest $2.5 Billion in Chip Factories in Germany
