New TED Talks Are Now Available

Authored by Guy Kawasaki on March 18, 2007 - 11:45am.

The latest TED Talks are now online. The last time I blogged about TED Talks, I made that claim that Majora Carter was as good as Steve Jobs and that created a controversy. One of my favorites is Richard St. John’s. It’s from 2005, but it’s still highly relevant. He gives a great definition to CRAP. The quality of these videos is so high that you will be thanking BMW for sponsoring them and won’t mind the BMW ad in the beginning (Thanks to Bill Meade for pointing these videos out.)

Google Blacklists BMW for Boosting Ranking, Blogger Says

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on February 6, 2006 - 6:22am.
Frankfurt - According to a blog by Matt Cutts, a software engineer for Google, the U.S.-based Internet search-engine giant has blacklisted the German website of BMW after the carmaker allegedly tried to boost its popularity ranking artificially. Cutts claims BMW employed a practice called search-engine optimization to ensure that searches for "BMW" and "used cars" returned to BMW's website first -- a practice that apparently runs counter to Google guidelines. Cutts said Google placed a "Google Death Penalty" on BMW's German website that lowers its Internet profile.

Cupertino, Calif. -- Apple announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with automaker BMW to create the first "seamless" connection between an iPod digital music player and a car audio system. The $149 BMW iPod Adapter connects an iPod to a cable located in the glove compartment, which connects directly to the car's stereo, uses the car stereo's own stereo interface for control, and draws power from the car's battery. The device will be available beginning July 12 for 2002-2004 model BMW X3, X5, Z4 and 3 Series. A version for the MINI Cooper will also be released later this summer.
