Portland, Ore. - Video game developer responDESIGN, which created a fitness title for Xbox called "YourselfFitness," on Tuesday announced a promotional partnership with McDonald's that will place responDESIGN fitness DVDs in the new McDonald's Go Active! Happy Meal for Adults. The DVDs, available in both English and Spanish, will feature a virtual personal trainer who leads viewers through one of four different 15-minute workouts: Yoga, Cardio, Core and Strength.

Redmond, Wash. - Nintendo of America announced on Tuesday that it will bring free Wi-Fi wireless broadband Internet access to Nintendo DS users at some 6,000 U.S. McDonald's restaurants, though an agreement with Wi-Fi provider Wayport. The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, which allows DS owners to log on for multiplayer gameplay, is slated to launch on Nov. 14. "Beginning with free access at participating McDonald's, we have removed one of the major barriers that have kept people from going online to play games," said Reggie Fils-Aime, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America. In addition to the DS, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service will also be compatible with Nintendo's forthcoming next-generation video game console, codenamed "Revolution," which is scheduled for release in 2006.

Los Gatos, Calif. -- DVDplay, a provider of self-service DVD rental kiosks, announced that it has extended a trial agreement with fast food chain McDonald's, and will install its kiosks in 13,000 restaurants over the next several years. The company has already installed 157 of its machines in 107 Denver-area McDonald's restaurants. Los Gatos, Calif.-based DVDplay also has deals to install its kiosks in 3,000 Albertsons and 3,500 Safeway grocery stores. Separately, McDonald's announced on Thursday that it has partnered with online games publisher Shockwave.com to give away 2 million 30-day subscriptions to Shockwave.com's GameBlast subscription service, through its Monopoly Best Chance Game 2.0. GameBlast, which normally costs under $10 per month, offers over 100 premium online games in an ad-free environment.
