CBS to Stream Entire NCAA Basketball Tournament

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS' (NYSE: CBS) CBSSports.com said on Monday that, for the first time, this year it will offer all 63 games of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship -- including the championship game -- via its broadband NCAA March Madness on Demand service. Previously, the video player had provided online access only to the first several rounds of the tournament. Last year, the streaming service attracted 1.38 million total unique users during the tournament.

Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS' (NYSE: CBS) CBSSports.com said on Thursday that it has teamed with online social network Facebook to offer an official NCAA March Madness Brackets application to Facebook users. Participants will be able to compare picks with friends, as well as access tournament video coverage through links to the network's NCAA March Madness on Demand live streaming service. CBS said that more than 2.6 million Facebook users joined at least one bracket group in a similar feature offered last year.

Interactive TV Developer Jacked Lands $6.5 Million

JumpTV Buys Unit of College Sports Webcaster XOS for $60.25 Million

Toronto - JumpTV, a provider of live TV broadcasts over the Internet, announced that it will acquire the broadband network business unit of XOS Technologies, which focuses on U.S. college sports, for $60.25 million.

EA Licenses Football Game Technology for XOS Training Simulator

Orlando, Fla. - Video game publisher Electronic Arts announced on Monday that sports media firm XOS Technologies has licensed its core football video game technology to develop a training simulator for collegiate and pro football teams. The XOS PlayAction Simulator features the same technology found in EA's "Madden NFL" and "NCAA Football" franchises. Separately, EA said on Monday that it has signed Washington Wizards All-Star Gilbert Arenas to serve as cover athlete and spokesman for its "NBA Live 08" title, slated for release in the fall.

Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS SportsLine on Tuesday announced the launch of its NCAA March Madness on Demand service, which will again this year offer free online streaming of all 56 games from the early rounds of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship broadcast by CBS Sports. Last year, the company served over 19 million streams. This year's service will feature a 50% larger video screen, and also for the first time offer live audio streaming of Westwood One's radio broadcasts of the tournament's first two rounds. A new, live halftime show produced for MMOD, sponsored by AT&T, will feature SportsLine's Jason Horowitz paired with a college coach.

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts on Tuesday shipped its "MVP 07 NCAA Baseball" title for PlayStation 2 to retailers. Developed by EA Canada, the first official college baseball game ever to be released features former Long Beach State pitcher Jered Weaver on the cover. The title also includes commentary from ESPN's Kyle Peterson, a former All-American pitcher at Stanford. Separately, EA said it has released its "NASCAR 07" mobile game for Sprint subscribers.

New York - Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive's 2K Sports label on Friday announced details for its 2nd Annual Pontiac Virtual NCAA Final 4 Tournament, which will pit players of its "College Hoops 2K7" title in a competition on Microsoft's Xbox Live online game service. Denver, Colo. - Thought Equity, a provider of online video footage licensing and management, announced on Monday the launch of its NCAA Sports Collection, which consists of the entire archived library of NCAA championships dating back to 1906. Denver-based Thought Equity will make the footage -- 88 NCAA championships in 23 men's and women's intercollegiate sports from Divisions I, II and III, including basketball, football, baseball, ice hockey, soccer, softball and volleyball -- available for licensing in both film and HD formats.
