Warner Bros. to Publish "Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal" for Xbox 360, Wii

Burbank, Calif. - Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on Tuesday announced plans to publish "Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal" for the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii in the fall of 2007. The game is being developed by Redtribe.

Yahoo Launches New Personal Finance Site

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Internet giant Yahoo said on Friday that it has launched a new personal finance website, featuring tools and information focused on nine major areas such as banking, real estate and retirement.

AOL Launches Live Video Stream of QVC Home Shopping Network

Dulles, Va. - AOL announced on Thursday that it has added a live streaming video channel from the QVC home shopping network to its AOL Video portal. The QVC TV Live channel is available today, while an on-demand version featuring over 400 clips will launch next week.

Electronic Arts Releases Laptop-Friendly "The Sims Stories"

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts on Tuesday announced the launch of "The Sims Stories," a new line of laptop-friendly games that feature evolving storylines. The episodic "Sims Life Stories" game includes 12 chapters, in which players follow the lives of one of two Sims characters. "The Sims Pet Stories" is also slated for release in mid-2007, while "The Sims Castaway Stories" will ship in late 2008.

Netflix to Launch Online Movie Viewing With 1,000 Titles

Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental firm Netflix on Tuesday announced plans to launch a new feature that lets subscribers watch TV shows and movies on the company's website.

Buena Vista Games to Publish Sunflowers' "Anno 1701" for DS

London - Disney's Buena Vista Games announced on Friday a publishing agreement with German developer Sunflowers, to publish its "Anno 1701" title for the Nintendo DS. The "Anno" PC game series, which has sold 4.4 million units worldwide, will be developed for the DS by Keen Games. BVG will publish the title in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand in the second quarter of 2007.

Grooveshark P2P Music-Sharing Service to Compensate Artists, Members

Gainesville, Fla. - Escape Media Group on Thursday introduced Grooveshark, a new peer-to-peer music sharing service the company says will compensate both copyright holders and members who participate in the community. Founded by 20-year-old Escape Media Group CEO Sam Tarantino, Grooveshark is expected to begin beta testing during the first quarter of 2007. The service will offer songs in the unprotected MP3 format for no more than 99 cents, and pay royalties to copyright holders -- although no licensing deals were announced. The company will also reward users who participate in the community by uploading songs, fixing song tags, flagging unwanted files or reviewing music with free downloads from Grooveshark.

Electronic Arts Ships New Versions of "The Godfather" for PS3, Wii

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts on Thursday released two new versions of its "The Godfather" game, for the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. "The Godfather: The Don's Edition" for PlayStation 3 includes the "Corleone" expansion pack and takes advantage of the PS3's Sixaxis controller, while "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" for the Wii adds elements designed for Nintendo's own motion-sensing Wii Remote.

Online Game "World of Warcraft" Passes 8 Million Subscribers Worldwide

Irvine, Calif. - Vivendi's video game publishing unit Blizzard Entertainment announced on Thursday that its "World of Warcraft" massively multiplayer online roleplaying game -- the most popular title of its type ever created -- has now surpassed 8 million paying subscribers worldwide.

MySpace Launches Online Social Network in France

London - News Corp.'s MySpace online social network on Thursday launched a version of its site in France, as part of the company's roll-out of foreign language sites catering to overseas markets, Reuters reported.

Texas Instruments Develops Digital Video Projector for Cell Phones

Las Vegas - Texas Instruments announced that it has developed technology that can turn a cell phone into a powerful digital video projector. The cell phone projector add-on, which uses the same DLP technology found in TI's cinema-grade digital projectors, measures about 1.5-inches and can transmit DVD-quality video stored on the phone onto a white screen or wall. "You could actually drive a large-screen TV," TI CEO Rich Templeton told CNET News.com. TI also said its DLP digital cinema projectors have now been deployed in over 3,000 movie theater screens worldwide.

Atari Ships "Arthur and the Invisibles," "Pat Sajack's Lucky Letters Deluxe"

New York - Atari announced that it has shipped its "Arthur and the Invisibles" title,  based on the Luc Besson animated film from MGM/The Weinstein Company due in theaters on Jan. 12. The game was developed for PlayStation 2 and the PC by France-based Etranges Libellules, for Nintendo DS by Neko, and for Game Boy Advance by Mistic. Separately, Atari said it has released "Pat Sajack's Lucky Letters Deluxe" for the PC.

Former Electronic Arts Developers Form Sniper Studios

Redwood City, Calif. - A group of former developers from Electronic Arts on Tuesday announced the formation of an independent game development firm, Sniper Studios. The team includes president, CEO and co-founder Matt McKnight, who worked at EA for 11 years on titles like "Madden NFL," "James Bond 007" and "NCAA Football," in addition to former EA staffers Jeff Hasson, who will serve as general manager, and Ted Fitzgerald, who becomes Sniper's vice president of production and business development. The company's first deal is a yet to be announced title for Sega of America that it slated for release in 2007.

XM Satellite Radio Debuts New Products at CES

Washington - XM Satellite Radio on Monday introduced a number of new devices at the Consumer Electronics Show, including a portable receiver that includes XM Radio reception, GPS navigation, and personalized, real-time weather information. The Bushnell ONIX 400, set to ship in the summer, can layer weather information on the screen along with aerial and satellite photos and maps. XM also introduced the XM CommanderMT, a universal satellite radio receiver that delivers XM to any FM car stereo, regardless of make, model or year.

Electronic Arts Releases Two New Games for Apple's iPod

Los Angeles - Electronic Arts on Wednesday released two new puzzle games compatible with Apple's iPod media players, which will be available for purchase through the iTunes Store for $4.99 each. "EA Sudoku" and "Royal Solitaire" were launched today, joining existing EA games for iPod that include "Tetris," "EA Mini Golf" and "EA Mahjong."
