Media portal and search engine Yahoo! flagged yesterday for slower growth in 2006 and further postponed its new advertising system. The news sent the company’s shares to 2-year low. Is this a sign of Internet Advertising slowing down, hence a broader economic problem, or just a bump in the road for the company itself? Yahoo's net income was $164 million in the second quarter 2006, about 78% lower than the $754.7 million seen a year earlier. However, the 2005 figure included a $552 million one-off gain earned when Yahoo sold its remaining shares in rival Google last year. California-based. Washington - XM Satellite Radio, a provider of subscription radio programming with over 6 million subscribers, on Tuesday said it will expand its XM NavTraffic satellite traffic information service into nine additional U.S. markets in the first quarter of 2006. Already available in 22 markets, the service will soon also be offered in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver-Boulder, Milwaukee-Racine, Portland, Providence-Warwick- Pawtucket, Sacramento, San Antonio and Wilmington, Delaware.

San Mateo, Calif. - Oodle, a search engine for local classifieds, said on Tuesday that it has launched in 23 new markets, including such cities as Baltimore, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Orlando and Pittsburgh. The company now operates in 49 metro areas.

Dulles, Va. -- Following months of industry speculation and build-up, America Online on Thursday launched its new Internet phone service in more than 40 U.S. markets, including the DC area. It is the first phase of a nationwide rollout that will continue over the coming months. AOL said the service will offer subscribers cost-savings over traditional phone services, as well as enhanced voice and online messaging features. The company is offering its current Internet members a special rate of $29.99 a month for the first six months of its combined Internet access and phone services, after which the price will jump to $39.99. The phone service includes unlimited local and long distance calling. The phone service also will be available without Internet access.
