Los Angeles - Despite Warner Home Video's efforts to curb piracy of "Superman Returns" in China by releasing the film on DVD in the country two months before anywhere else, a high-quality bootleg version of the movie was readily available on the streets of Beijing today for $1.75, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warner's plan was to release a two-disc, legitimate DVD version of the film will all the special features to Chinese retailers to sell for $2.75, betting that the low price and early release date would provide competition to bootleggers.

In addition to a small library of pre-loaded songs, music videos and short films, the Wi-Fi-enabled device will allow sharing of songs and other media between Zune players. Microsoft will also simultaneously launch the Zune Marketplace, an online store with millions of songs that Zune users can download in unlimited numbers to the 30GB device for $14.99 per month. Songs can also be purchased individually using "Microsoft Points," for 79 points per track -- much like a pre-paid phone card. Microsoft has also readied a full range of accessories for the Zune, including premium headphones and products that connect the player to a home or car stereo. "On Nov. 14 we're delivering not only a device, but a shared, social experience that will be shaped by the collective imagination of consumers," said Chris Stephenson, general manager of global marketing for Zune.

Episodes will sell for 95 cents each -- a discount from the 99 cents the same shows sell for on iTunes.

Tokyo - Sony announced on Friday that it will knock 20% off the price of its forthcoming PlayStation 3 console in Japan, but currently has no plans to do the same for the U.S. or other markets, the Associated Press reported. The discount follows Microsoft's announcement of pricing for an HD DVD player accessory, which brought the total price for an Xbox 360 and HD DVD player in under Sony's initial $515 price tag for the PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 3 -- which features an embedded Blu-ray DVD player -- will now sell for $410 when it goes on sale in Japan on Nov. 11, below Microsoft's $427 price tag for a premium Xbox 360 and the HD DVD accessory. The PlayStation 3 will go on sale in the U.S. on Nov. 17, priced at $499 for a 20GB model and $599 for a 60GB model.
