Yahoo Acquires Maven Networks for $160 Million

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Maven Networks, a provider of online video syndication, content management and advertising service, for $160 million. Founded in 2002, Cambridge, Mass.-based Maven currently manages online video for over 30 media companies, including Sony BMG, CBS Sports, Hearst, Gannett, Scripps Networks and the Financial Times.

Maven Networks to be Acquired by Yahoo for $150 Million

Cambridge, Mass. - Maven Networks, a privately-held provider of technology for advertising on Internet video, is about to be acquired by Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) for about $150 million, according to published reports. Meanwhile, on Friday, Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) launched an unsolicited $44.6 billion takeover bid for Yahoo.

Scripps Networks Taps Maven to Power Online Video

Cambridge, Mass. - Maven Networks, a provider of Internet TV distribution services, said on Wednesday that cable TV network owner Scripps Networks (NYSE: SSP) will use its service to power its online video offerings. Maven's platform will be used to distribute video for the websites of HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Fine Living and other properties.

Cambridge, Mass. -- Maven Networks, a provider of broadband media delivery technology, announced on Thursday that it has raised $10 million in its second round of venture capital financing. Accel Partners led the investment round, in which General Catalyst Partners also participated. The company's software, which allows businesses to transmit full-screen video with contextual interaction, is used by customers including Virgin Records, Twentieth Century Fox, National Geographic and AtomFilms. Massachusetts-based Maven will use the funds for product development and to expand its sales organization and marketing programs, establishing new offices in Silicon Valley and New York City.
