Social Video Site DanceJam Raises $3.5 Million

Los Angeles - DanceJam, the dance-oriented social networking and video site co-founded by musician MC Hammer, has received $3.5 million in new financing from Softbank Capital, Rustic Canyon Partners and several new angel investors, TechCrunch reported.

Menlo Park, Calif. - DanceJam has announced the launch of its dance-focused social network, formed by 80's/90's artist MC Hammer and the creators of the Flock social network browser. The site lets users create profiles and post videos of themselves dancing. The site will also show which styles and dancers are most popular in each city or region, and host online dance competitions. "Dance is unlike any other social medium. It's the core of our culture," said DanceJam co-founder and chief strategy officer MC Hammer.
