Cedar Knolls, N.J. - MediaBay, a distributor of spoken word audio content, announced on Friday that it has filed to deregister its stock and end its reporting obligations with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company said it was eligible to do so under SEC rules because it has fewer than 300 shareholders of record. MediaBay expects the deregistration to become effective in 90 days.

Digital Download Store Blish.com to Sell MediaBay Audiobooks

Arlington Heights, Ill. - Digital download marketplace Blish.com announced on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement to distribute a library of over 5,000 audiobooks from MediaBay on its service. Founded in February, Illinois-based Blish.com also offers stock photography, royalty free music, legal documents, software, online courses, stock video and motion graphics from providers including Random House, RiverDeep Software and Princeton University Press.

MediaBay Launches Audio Newsfeeds for Indian Publications

Cedar Knolls, N.J. - Spoken word audio distributor MediaBay on Monday launched SoundsGood Newscast, a subscription service of audio news feeds from Indian media outlets the Hindustan Times and Taldia. The Hindustan Times newscast broadcasts six days a week and costs $9.95 per month, while the Taldia feed runs five days a week and is $4.95 per month.

Cedar Knolls, N.J. - MediaBay, a distributor of spoken word audio content, announced on Tuesday that it has retained MediaTech Capital partners to assist the company in reviewing strategic options, and to accelerate wireless distribution of its content library. New Jersey-based MediaBay already distributes its old-time radio shows, audiobooks and other programming through MusicNet, MSN Music and satellite radio services. Cedar Knolls, N.J. - MediaBay, a distributor of spoken word audio content, announced on Monday that it has teamed with A&E Television Networks to distribute digital audio download versions of select series from A&E and The History Channel. Audio episodes of shows including "Biography," "Cold Case Files" and "Weapons at War" will be available in WMA format, and transferable to a range of portable players -- excluding the iPod.

Cedar Knolls, N.J. - Spoken word audio distributor MediaBay announced on Thursday that it has received notification from the Nasdaq that its shares are now fully in compliance with listing qualifications, and will continue trading on the exchange. New Jersey-based MediaBay last month effected a 1-for-6 reverse stock split aimed at boosting its share price back above the Nasdaq's minimum listing requirement.

The move will bring the company's shares back under compliance with Nasdaq rules; MediaBay received a notice on Sept. 8 that its shares were subject to delisting from the Nasdaq, for failure to comply with the minimum bid price listing requirement.

Spoken Word Audio Content Distributor MediaBay Raises $35 Million

Cedar Knolls, N.J. -- MediaBay, a provider of spoken word audio content, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $35 million in a recent round of funding from several institutional investors. The company said the proceeds would go to help fund its digital distribution strategy; MediaBay holds a library of 75,000 hours of audio content, which it sells both on CD and cassettes, and as downloads through various digital services. MediaBay has recently struck agreements to distribute its content through both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, as well as Microsoft's MSN and Loudeye. The company also partnered with talk host Larry King on an upcoming audiobook club. "Today we have distribution agreements to deliver our programming on satellite radio, via digital downloads on our partner's storefronts and our own celebrity-endorsed storefronts, and to cell phones via ringtones," said MediaBay CEO Jeffrey Dittus. New Jersey-based MediaBay said it will use the proceeds first to pay off debt, after which its cash reserves are expected to stand at $16 million.

New Jersey-based MediaBay's content libraries include over 60,000 classic radio programs, 3,500 film and television programs and thousands of audiobooks, which it distributes through streaming and downloadable audio, as well as in over 7,000 retail outlets. "We believe this financing will allow us to increase our marketing efforts over the next few months, which will assist us in growing our business," said MediaBay chief financial officer John F. Levy.

Purchasers included company chairman Carl Wolf, and a company owned by one of MediaBay's board members.
