MegaVideo Emerges as Online Hub for TV Shows

San Francisco - MegaVideo, a video site launched by file-hosting service MegaUpload, has emerged as a destination where users can stream full-length episodes of many U.S. television shows -- including ones that have not been licensed for online viewing on sites like Hulu, Wired.com reported. The site rewards users who upload new content based on the popularity of what they provide; 10,000 views garners a free month of premium membership, while 1 million views nets the uploader $1,500, and 5 million views $10,000.

Leipzig, Germany - Worldwide use of peer-to-peer applications has fallen as a percentage of overall Web traffic, as the total amount of Web traffic has grown, Ars Technica reported, citing preliminary results of a new study from deep-packet inspection firm Ipoque.

London - Italian police have shut down popular music file-sharing forum Downrevolution.net and arrested four alleged operators of the site, which counted 30,000 registered users, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), a record label trade group.
