Video-sharing Site Metacafe Signs Mobile Distribution Deals

Palo Alto, Calif. - Video-sharing site Metacafe, which claims 28 million unique monthly visitors, on Wednesday announced partnerships with several mobile entertainment firms. The deals with Buongiorno, which counts 100 carrier partners in over 50 countries; mobile entertainment network Dyuna; and Mobile Streams will facilitate the distribution of Metacafe's content on mobile phones.

Endemol USA, Metacafe Team for Online Late-Night Trivia Show

Los Angeles - Television production company Endemol USA ("Deal or No Deal," "Big Brother") announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with online video site Metacafe to launch an online late-night game show called "Buzzed." The series will feature nightclub patrons answering a series of trivia questions as they are leaving the club. Metacafe's 6 million unique monthly users will be able to submit trivia questions and physical challenges for contestants, as well as rate, share and comment on webisodes. The show is currently in pre-production and slated to launch in the spring.

Metacafe Teams with Zed, Nareos for Mobile Video Access

Palo Alto, Calif. - Metacafe, a video-sharing site with 28 million monthly viewers, on Wednesday began offering mobile access to its site, through deals with Nareos and Zed. Zed will power "send to mobile" functionality for Metacafe users in the U.S. and Spain, while Nareos will provide similar services in the U.K., parts of Europe and India.

Metacafe Video Revenue-Sharing Payments Hit $1 Million

Palo Alto, Calif. - Video-sharing site Metacafe said on Wednesday that its Producer Rewards program, which offers video creators a cut of ad revenue from their clips, has now doled out more than $1 million collectively to over 550 users. The top-earning producer has made more than $80,000, while 44 people have each earned more than $5,000 from the site, which counts 30 million unique monthly users. The program offers $5 for every 1,000 views, starting at the 20,000 views mark.

MTV, Metacafe Hatch Virtual World Music Video Contest

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) MTV Networks  announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with video-sharing site Metacafe on a contest that will challenge users to create their own virtual music video. Contestants are charged with creating a music video for one of several emerging artists that is set inside one of MTV Networks' seven virtual worlds, with fans then voting for their favorites on Metacafe or MTV's Virtual Worlds channel.

Luxembourg - Skype, the Internet telephone service unit of eBay, on Tuesday added the ability to share online video in their Skype chats, and add videos downloaded from Dailymotion and Metacafe to their Skype "moods," the name for a Skype user's online profile.

IAC announced today that Thomas Enraght-Moony has been named Chief Executive Officer of Match.com. In this role he will have responsibility for Match.com's worldwide business, and will report to Doug Lebda, President and Chief Operating Officer of IAC. Mr. Enraght-Moony previously served as the company's Chief Operating Officer. He succeeds Jim Safka, who, as announced today, has been named Chief Executive Officer of a new IAC-backed venture located in San Francisco.

Producer Steven Bochco Debuts Video Confessionals on Metacafe

Palo Alto, Calif. - Video-sharing site Metacafe announced on Monday the launch of a new channel, created by Hollywood producer Steven Bochco ("Hill Street Blues," "NYPD Blue"), that will feature twenty-somethings sharing video confessionals on topics like "My First Time" and "Most Embarrassing Moment." In addition to videos produced by Bochco, the Café Confidential channel will encourage users to contribute their own similar videos, which will be eligible for revenue-sharing from Metacafe.

CenterStaging Corp., parent company of rehearsals.com, has announced that Paul “Schmidi” Schmidman has been promoted to President. The firm’s Board of Directors approved Schmidman’s promotion from his previous post as Chief Operating Officer, which he held since July of 2006. Schmidman, who will remain as Chief Operating Officer, will continue to be based at the CenterStaging headquarters in Burbank, CA. The Board also elected Johnny Caswell, formerly the President, as Chairman of the Board, and CEO Roger Paglia as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Tempe, Ariz. - Limelight Networks, a provider of content delivery network services that speed the delivery of multimedia media content on the Internet, announced on Monday that video-sharing site Metacafe will use its services. ComScore ratings data shows Metacafe drew 16 million visitors and served 450 million videos in November. Limelight provides similar services for Amazon Unbox, MySpace and Xbox Live.
