MLB Reveals Live Video Streaming Stats for Playoffs

Los Angeles - Major League Baseball Advanced Media said that it served an average of 350,000 live streams during each game of the first round of the playoffs on its $9.95 Postseason.TV subscription service, PaidContent reports. The live video streams include 314,000 served to computers via MLB.com, and 36,000 served to iPhone and iPod touch devices; another 88,000 audio-only streams were also delivered.

MLB's $9.99 At Bat Application Hits 400,000 Downloads

New York - Major League Baseball Advanced Media's $9.99 At Bat application for Apple's iPhone has to date been downloaded more than 400,000 times, Ad Age reports. The application offers live streaming of baseball games and a range of other features. MLBAM said that the free version of the application has been downloaded 300,000 times.

Linktone to Distribute MLB Mobile Content in Asia

Beijing - Linktone (NASD: LTON), a wireless entertainment distributor in China, said on Monday that it has signed a multi-year deal making it the exclusive distributor of certain mobile Major League Baseball content in China, South Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines. Linktone will manage officially-licensed MLB websites and wireless portals offering live video streaming of games, on-demand videos, news and statistics.

Major League Baseball Adds Live Game Streams to iPhone App

New York - Major League Baseball Advanced Media announced on Wednesday that it will now offer live streaming of baseball games through its At Bat 2009 application for Apple's (NASD: AAPL) iPhone. Users of the $9.99 application will be able to view up to two games a day, subject to blackout restrictions.

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann to Pen Column on MLB.com

New York - Journalist Keith Olbermann, the ESPN sports anchor-turned political show host on MSNBC, has been hired by Major League Baseball Advanced Media to pen a new column on MLB.com. Olbermann said he will donate his full salary for the thrice-weekly column, "Baseball Nerd," to three charities.

Tickets.com Debuts Mobile Ticketing at Michigan Concert Venue

Costa Mesa, Calif. - Tickets.com, a unit of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, announced this week that it has partnered with the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan, to offer concertgoers the ability to purchase tickets that will be delivered in the form of a bar code to their mobile phones that can be presented for entry at the venue. Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Tickets.com said the theater is its first partner outside the sports world to use its Tickets@Phone service; six MLB teams currently offer the service.

MLBAM to Power Wireless Content on TigerWoods.com

Orlando, Fla. - Pro golfer Tiger Woods' official website said on Wednesday that it has signed Major League Baseball Advanced Media as its wireless distribution partner. Under the deal, MLBAM will develop, host and distribute all wireless content offered through TigerWoods.com, including ringtones, wallpapers, photos, video and games.

Judge Rules Against MLB, Says Fantasy Sports Data is Public Domain

St. Louis - A federal judge has ruled against the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) and Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM), saying that baseball statistics are in the public domain and may be freely used by providers of fantasy sports games.
