San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile game publisher Glu Mobile on Monday released "Ice Age 2: Arctic Slide," based on the 20th Century Fox animated film "Ice Age: The Meltdown". The movie is scheduled for theatrical release on March 31.

Raleigh, N.C. - Mobile entertainment publisher Oasys Mobile said on Wednesday that it has partnered with fellow mobile entertainment publisher Selatra, to offer 600 of Selatra's mobile game titles on its OasysMobile.com portal. Titles in Selatra's catalog include "SuperDoku," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Bruce Lee" and "Yahtzee".

Los Angeles - Japanese video game publisher Square Enix announced on Friday that it has partnered with U.K.-based mobile game developer Ideaworks3D, to develop a mobile version of an as-yet-undisclosed Square Enix game title. The title is slated for released some time in 2006.

Namco Networks to Develop "Dilbert" Mobile Game

San Jose, Calif. - Namco Networks, the mobile unit of the Japanese video game publisher, said on Monday it has signed an agreement with United Media to create mobile games based on the "Dilbert" comic strip. The first title under the agreement is slated to launch in the fall of 2006.

CEO of Mobile Game Developer I-play Steps Down

London - I-play, the U.K.-based mobile game developer formerly known as Digital Bridges, announced that CEO Brian Greasley has stepped down. Greasley joined the company in 2001 from U.K.-based private-equity firm Apax Partners, which remains a majority shareholder in the company. Current chief operating officer David Gosen will take over as CEO, effective immediately. Apax and Argo, I-play's leading shareholders, have expressed their continuing commitment to the company.

Konami Ships "Karaoke Revolution" for Consoles, "Frogger" Mobile Game

Redwood City, Calif. - Japanese video game publisher Konami announced that it has shipped its "Karaoke Revolution" title for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube to retailers. Developed by Harmonix Music Systems, the game features 50 licensed music tracks for karaoke singing, as well as some dance elements from Konami's popular "Dance Dance Revolution" title. It will ship with a pre-paid card redeemable for 3 free music downloads from digital music retailer Puretracks.com. Separately, Konami announced the release of its "Frogger Puzzle" mobile game title with several North American wireless carriers and mobile portals.

Study: More Than One-Third of Mobile Game Downloads Are Free

San Francisco - About two-thirds (64%) of all mobile games downloaded last quarter cost money, while the remaining one-third was free, according to a new study by San Francisco-based Telephia. The company said that puzzle and strategy mobile games have the highest percentage of free downloads (48%), while consumers paid an average of $4.29 to download action and adventure games, the most of any category. "At this early stage of the game, publishers are employing different strategies with pricing and promotional incentives to learn what will gain the most traction with consumers and deliver the best revenue performance outcome," said Kanishka Agarwal, Telephia's vice president of new products.

RealNetworks Acquires Finnish Mobile Game Publisher Mr.Goodliving

Seattle -- RealNetworks, a developer of media delivery technologies, on Wednesday announced its entry into the mobile games market with its $15 million acquisition of Finland-based mobile game publisher Mr.Goodliving. In addition to mobile games such as "Trivial Pursuit" and "Playman Sports," Mr.Goodliving developed Emerge, a mobile game development platform that supports publishing to more than 200 handsets in 20 languages. Seattle-based RealNetworks said it plans to convert the library of casual games it has established with its RealArcade service into mobile titles using Emerge. The company also said it named Mr.Goodliving managing director Juha Ruskola as the head of Real's games business in Europe, Middle-East and Africa.
