San Francisco - Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma on Wednesday launched its "Sudoku Garden" mobile game in the U.S. San Francisco-based Mforma said the puzzle game has already launched on European networks and is also slated for release in Canada.

Separately, San Francisco-based Hands-On announced new deals to publish mobile content from LEGO, Christian Radio Network personality Pat Boone, and former Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. The company partnered with mobile game developer Kiloo and TT Games Publishing to create the Lego-branded wireless games.

San Francisco - Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma on Monday announced the release of its "X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse" title in the U.S., Europe and Asia. The title is a mobile version of Activision's console game of the same name, and is based on characters from Marvel Comics.

San Francisco - Mforma, a publisher and distributor of mobile entertainment content, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $30 million in its third round of venture capital financing. Institutional Venture Partners led the investment round; previous investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and General Catalyst Partners also participated. Founded in 2001, San Francisco-based Mforma distributes mobile games and subscription content services through over 100 wireless carriers in 39 countries. Media partners have included Atari, Billboard, Viacom, Universal, Activision, Marvel and Primedia. The funds will be used to develop new product lines and to expand global operations and marketing initiatives.

Mforma, Marvel Partner on Superhero Cell Phone Content

Los Angeles -- Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma Group announced on Monday that it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with comic book publisher Marvel Enterprises, to create mobile applications featuring Marvel characters such as Spider-Man, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under the deal, Los Angeles-based Mforma will co-publish mobile games based on Marvel characters with Activision. The deal includes games, images, ringtones, mobile comic books and community applications, in addition to the creation of Marvel Mobile, a branded wireless and online website that Mforma will host to provide information, promotions and links to Marvel's available content for cell phones. Mforma has content distribution agreements with more than 100 wireless operators in 39 countries. "Nothing like this has ever before been done in mobile," said Mforma CEO Daniel Kranzler. "Today, the market and mobile technology has matured to the point that a deal of this magnitude is possible."

Mforma Buys Stake in Chinese Mobile Game Developer Magus-Soft

Bellevue, Wash. -- Wireless entertainment publisher Mforma Group announced on Monday that it has made a strategic investment in Chinese mobile games developer Magus-Soft, by purchasing the investment stake held by Siemens Mobile Acceleration. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Beijing-based Magus-Soft has developed over 80 mobile games and applications, including "Team China Soccer" and "Super League Football." The Siemens investment unit purchased its minority stake in Magus-Soft in 2002. Magus-Soft has "made major accomplishments since their founding in 2001 and today have nationwide service agreements to deliver SMS, WAP, Java, and BREW content to consumers throughout China," said Mforma CEO Daniel Kranzler. "They have developed a stellar catalog of content and a platform that supports multiple technologies and protocols."

Bellevue, Wash. -- Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma, which last week raised $40 million in venture capital and acquired developer Fingertwitch, announced on Thursday the purchase of another mobile game developer, U.K.-based Blue Beck. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2001, Blue Beck has created console and mobile titles for Electronic Arts, THQ, Jamdat and Mforma. Bellevue, Wash.-based Mforma said the acquisition of Blue Beck will allow it to tighten its production schedule and increase output.

Bellevue, Wash. -- Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma Group, which earlier this week announced raising $40 million in new financing, said on Thursday that it has acquired San Francisco-based FingerTwitch, a developer of technology used to port mobile games to multiple devices and wireless platforms. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Mforma also named FingerTwitch CEO Jimmy Giliberti as head of its porting and QA department, which will be based out of San Francisco. FingerTwitch is "able to scale to accomplish hundreds of ports per month, making them an extremely valuable part of our production cycle as we deliver dozens of applications to more than 100 operators worldwide," said John Brimacombe, president of Bellevue, Wash.-based Mforma.

Kirkland, Wash. -- Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma Group announced on Tuesday that it will soon close on a new $40 million round of financing, having just closed a $44 million round in June. The new round includes a first close of $19 million led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, with participation from existing investors General Catalyst Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners. The company said additional funding will be based on pending acquisitions currently under review. Kirkland, Wash.-based Mforma was founded in 2001, and its entertainment content is now available to over 500 million subscribers through deals with 100 wireless carriers worldwide. The company will use the funds to continue its global expansion and add new geographic territories, channels of distribution, and infrastructure in high growth areas like Asia and Europe.

Kirkland, Wash. -- Mobile entertainment publisher Mforma Group announced on Wednesday that it has acquired MobileGame Korea (MoGame), a developer and publisher of mobile games in Korea. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal follows a two-year collaboration between Kirkland, Wash.-based Mforma and MobileGame Korea, which will now be known as Mforma Korea. The division will aggregate content from hundreds of developers in Korea for Mforma to distribute to wireless carriers in China, Europe, and the U.S., as well as continue to distribute Mforma titles from around the world in the Korean marketplace.
