Report: Peter Adderton, CEO and Founder, is out at Amp'd Mobile

The Silicon Valley gossip rag Valleywag reports that the word is that Peter Adderton, CEO and founder, is out at Amp'd Mobile. The company is a "virtual operator", a new breed of cellphone marketing companies that rent network capacity from traditional providers such as Sprint. "No confirmation yet as to Adderton's fate, but his company bio, describing him as 'a true entrepreneur and visionary' was just asking for trouble", writes Valleywag.

Los Angeles - Amp'd Mobile, a mobile virtual network operator targeting a youth audience, said on Monday that it has signed deals with comedian Jack Black and Howard Gordon, executive producer of Fox's "24," to create original content for mobile phones, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Amp'd Mobile to Broadcast Live NBA, NCAA Games to Cell Phones

Los Angeles - Virtual mobile network operator Amp'd Mobile announced on Tuesday that it has signed agreements with the NBA and CSTV to broadcast live pro and college basketball games to mobile phones.

MTV, Amp'd Mobile Team on Original Made-for-Mobile Series

New York - Viacom's MTV Networks announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with virtual mobile network operator Amp'd Mobile on an original made-for-mobile series that will be distributed exclusively on Amp'd. The two companies recently announced that an earlier made-for-mobile collaboration, "Lil' Bush: Resident of the United States," will cross over and also air on television. The companies did not provide additional details on the new original series.

Amp'd Moblie Hits 100,000 Subscribers

Los Angeles - Amp'd Mobile, a virtual mobile network operator, said on Monday that it ended 2006 with over 100,000 subscribers, having added more than 70,000 new customers during the fourth quarter. The company said its average content and data revenue per user exceeds $30 per month. Amp'd users have now downloaded or streamed more than 2 million paid videos, 39% of which were Amp'd original content. Subscribers have also now streamed or downloaded more than 1 million songs, music videos, and radio streams.

Los Angeles - Vivendi Games Mobile announced on Monday that its "Delta Force Black Hawk Down: Team Sabre" mobile game is now available for purchase and download to Cingular, Sprint and Amp'd Mobile customers in the U.S. The game is based on NovaLogic's game franchise, which was inspired by the 2001 Ridley Scott film.

Spike TV Launches Mobile Phone Content Service

Las Vegas - Viacom's Spike TV cable network announced on Wednesday the launch of Spike Mobile, which will offer short-form video clips of Spike TV programs. The company also announced that it partnered with mobile virtual network operator Amp'd Mobile, to provide a live streaming broadcast of an Ultimate Fighting Championship event to Amp'd Mobile subscribers' cell phones. During breaks in the broadcast, Spike intends to insert trailers for upcoming feature films from Paramount, Fox, Warner Bros. and The Weinstein Company.

New York - The Orchard, a digital distributor of independent label music, announced on Wednesday a partnership with Amp'd Mobile, a youth-oriented 3G mobile virtual network operator. Under the deal, The Orchard will provide music and video from its catalog to Amp'd Mobile subscribers, including music videos and scenes from "The 3 Stooges" and films like "The Toxic Avenger".
