Bango, a company that delivers mobile web simplifying technology, published statistics on mobile web growth today, and found the UK to be leading the charge. According to the company, the top 5 countries accessing the mobile web were the UK (27%), the US (21%), South Africa (11%), India (9%), and Indonesia (3%). Bango has mobile web statistics for over 190 countries.

From the DEMMX Conference: Today 70-80% of all mobile media revenues in the US is generated from the major carriers on-deck content. According to Anil Malhotra, SVP, Marketing at Bango, the carriers are now finally starting to open up for off-deck content: “Unofficial numbers show that already around 50% of mobile media revenues come from off-deck [content] on days when popular shows such as American Idol is on.”

New York - Bango, a provider of mobile music distribution technology, said on Thursday that independent digital music publisher INgrooves will use its service to allow artists to sell mobile music downloads. San Francisco-based INgrooves holds the mobile rights for 500 labels in the hip-hop, R&B, electronic and rock genres, and builds WAP sites for its artists and labels to sell ringtones and wallpapers. New York-based Bango's browse and buy technology will let artists like Thievery Corporation and The Crystal Method sell digital content directly to mobile phone users across all networks through their own mobile storefronts.

New York - World Wrestling Entertainment announced on Wednesday that it has developed a slate of original mobile entertainment content, including news, trivia, highlights and commentary on pro wrestling. The WWE partnered with mobile distributor Bango on the service, which promises at least 75 videos a month, ranging in length from two to five minutes. The service will also offer ringtones, wallpapers and text alerts.

London -- Bango, a U.K.-based company that helps companies sell content on mobile phones, announced that it is planning an initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM) later this month. By paying a monthly fee, Bango users can access content using mobile phone bills or credit and debit cards. Channel 4, for instance, is using Bango to offer "Big Brother"-related content to U.K. consumers on any mobile network. Bango said it expected to raise as much as $9 million with the IPO. "The AIM admission and funding will increase our profile internationally and assist in exploiting our scaleable technology platform in new territories," said Bango CEO Ray Anderson. "We are building on the successful relationships we already have with many content providers and network operators and are expecting to see significant growth," he said.
