MOG Debuts Music Blog Ad Network; Rick Rubin Joins Board

Berkeley, Calif. - MOG, the provider of a music blogging platform that counts thousands of sites, on Tuesday announced the launch of a new advertising network for independent music blogs and websites. The company said the network already counts more than 30 affiliates. Separately, the company said that legendary record producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin, now an executive at Columbia Records, has joined its board of directors. "This is a great validation of what we're building," said MOG founder and CEO David Hyman. "We're excited to have his expertise help shape the company."

Berkeley, Calif. - MOG, a music discovery service with a desktop music player, has raised $2.8 million in new financing, from Universal Music Investments, Sony BMG Music Investments and The Angels Forum 74, VentureBeat reported.

Berkeley, Calif. - MOG, an online music discovery community that has been in public beta since July 2006, announced on Thursday its official launch as well as the debut of a beta version of MOG TV, a personalized music video channel. Berkeley, Calif.-based MOG features an application that tracks computer and iPod music listening, and delivers music news, recommendations, songs and videos based on a user's listening preferences. Users can create their own profiles on the site, as well as visit pages from artists including Ben Gibbard, Branford Marsalis, Deerhoof and The Hold Steady.
