Spain's LaNetro Zed Pays $66.7 Million for Majority Stake in MonsterMob

London - LaNetro Zed, a Spain-based distributor of entertainment content on digital and mobile platforms, announced on Friday that it has paid $66.7 million for a 52% stake in U.K.-based mobile entertainment publisher MonsterMob.

Shanghai, China - Linktone, a Chinese provider of mobile entertainment services, announced that it "expects to make a firm offer" to acquire MonsterMob, a U.K.-based mobile entertainment distributor.

9 Squared Adds Snoop Dogg to Celebrity Text Message Service

Denver, Colo. - Mobile media distributor 9 Squared, a unit of U.K.-based Monstermob, on Friday announced the launch of a celebrity text message service featuring hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg. The service will deliver three text messages weekly, and is available to Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile and Alltel subscribers. Other celebrities featured on The In Crowd service include Xzibit, Andy Milonakis and John Salley.  

U.K. Mobile Firm Monstermob to Buy China's M Dream for $35.2 Million

London - Monstermob, a U.K.-based mobile games and ringtones publisher, announced that it has agreed to acquire M Dream, currently the largest maker of mobile games in China, for as much as $35.2 million in shares. The acquisition is not Monstermob's first in China; last August, the company paid about $99 million for ATOP Century, a provider of ringtones and mobile pictures. According to Monstermob, gaming is the fastest-growing segment of the Chinese mobile-entertainment market, set to grow from $41 million to more than $241 million over the next three years.

Mobile Games Firm Monstermob Acquires China's ATOP for $100 Million

London -- Monstermob, a U.K.-based provider of ringtones and games for mobile phones, announced that it has agreed to acquire ATOP Century Ltd., a China-based content provider, for approximately $100 million. Monstermob, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM), said the deal would give the company a strong foothold in the growing Chinese market, where mobile-phone users are expected to grow from 345 million to 570 million over the next three years. "The ATOP transaction marks our largest acquisition to date and is a great entry point into the rapidly growing Chinese mobile content market," said Monstermob Chairman Hans Snook. News of the ATOP deal comes only two months after Monstermob raised $36 million in a share placing for overseas acquisitions.

Mobile Content Provider Monstermob to Acquire U.K.-Based Phunky

Edinburgh -- Mobile phone content provider Monstermob announced that it has agreed to acquire mobile entertainment services provider Phunky for about 750,000 pounds ($1.4 million). The acquisition of Phunky, which currently has a database of more than 1 million registered members, will bring Monstermob's total database to more than 5 million members, the company said. "The acquisition of the Phunky business adds extensive mobile network portal knowledge to Monstermob, as well as significant customer numbers, and will be earnings enhancing from day one," said Monstermob Managing Director Martin Higginson. Scotland-based Monstermob said it planned to continue expanding and forge similar relationships with other network operators in the U.K. and on the Continent.
