MovieTickets.com to Provide Advance Sales for Starplex Cinemas

Los Angeles - MovieTickets.com, a provider of advance online movie ticket sales, announced on Friday that it has signed a deal to provide its services for Starplex Cinemas, a Dallas-based theater chain with 23 theaters and 216 screens nationwide.

"Spider-Man 3" Breaks Online Movie Ticket Sales Records

Los Angeles - The nation's two leading online movie ticket sellers -- Fandango and MovieTickets.com -- announced on Monday that "Spider-Man 3" set single-day ticket sales records for both of their services. Fandango, which was recently acquired by cable TV provider Comcast, said that ticket sales for the film on Friday broke both its daily and hourly sales records, when the site sold ten tickets per second over multiple hours. Meanwhile, MovieTickets.com -- a joint venture between a number of theater owners, AOL and Viacom -- said "Spider-Man 3" broke its single-day sales record, beating out last summer's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest."

MovieTickets.com Adds Hollywood Reporter Film Reviews

New York - The Hollywood Reporter announced on Friday an agreement to add its movie reviews to MovieTickets.com, a site where consumers can find showtimes and purchase tickets. Film reviews will be provided by HollywoodReporter.com, which claims 1.1 million monthly visitors.

MovieTickets.com Launches Spanish-language Version

Los Angeles - MovieTickets.com, a provider of advance online movie ticket sales, announced on Thursday the launch of a Spanish-language version of its site. In addition to the 77 U.S. theater chains it serves, Los Angeles-based MovieTickets.com said the new site would enable the company to support exhibitors in Spanish-speaking countries.

Nielsen, MovieTickets.com to Conduct Moviegoer Market Research

Los Angeles - Ratings provider Nielsen Entertainment and MovieTickets.com, a provider of advance online movie ticket sales, announced on Tuesday that they have partnered to provide clients with market research from moviegoers at the point of sale. MovieTickets.com said over 750,000 of its customers have signed up to participate in its Movie Advisory Board (MAB), which will monitor surfing and survey to provide information on why they chose a particular movie and how they liked it. The companies said such data can then be put in the context of Nielsen's own audience research. "For the first time, Nielsen will be talking to moviegoers at the point of sale, able to monitor their assessments as to why they chose the movie and how they liked it," said Nielsen's Adrienne Becker, who will co-manage MAB operations. "The partnership will permit new insights into triggers of the moviegoing decision, the resulting movie experience, and patterns of movie consumption, amplifying the vital statistics of an industry undergoing change."

MovieTickets.com Signs Additional Advance Ticket Deals With Exhibitors

Los Angeles - MovieTickets.com, a provider of advance online movie ticket sales, announced on Friday that it has signed a number of new agreements with U.S. and U.K. movie theater chains, bringing the number of theater chains for which it provides advance tickets to 66. The company said it has more than doubled its theater partners over the past year, and claims more exhibitor deals than any of its competitors.
