A colleague forwarded me a fantastic article from Ad Age "It's Web 3.0, and Someone Else's Content is King". The article is worth a read for anyone in the content business. The author, Matthew Creamer, suggests that Web 3.0 will be about monetizing the web's openness and points to examples in the news business of websites aggregating other people's content for profit. Are content aggregators in fact growing in popularity? The author cites Michael Wolff of Newser: "The space is heating up". According to internet usage data, is it?

MSNBC Goes Viral with David Pogue at CES

CES 2008 - MSNBC has taken a leap into the digital age by allowing users to grab the embed code of basically all its video and putting it up on their blogs or personal websites. This video is from CES, where NBC by the way has a HUGE presence, featuring their latest contributor, NYT's tech columnist David Pogue, showcasing some of his gadget picks.

TechPresident.com Launches "10Questions" Presidential Video Forum

New York - TechPresident.com, a group blog on the use of the Web by presidential candidates, announced on Monday that it has partnered with the editorial board of The New York Times and MSNBC.com on 10Question.com, a video forum that will solicit video questions from users and responses in video form from candidates. Users can post question videos to all candidates on sites including YouTube, MySpace, Yahoo and Blip.tv tagged as "10Questions." The public will then vote on the ten best questions, with the NYTimes.com opinion page and MSNBC.com directing users to the videos, and candidates will have four weeks to submit video responses to those questions.

Limelight Networks Delivers "Today" Show Webcasts for MSNBC.com

Tempe, Ariz. - Limelight Networks, a provider of content delivery network services for digital media, announced on Thursday that it is powering NBC News' daily webcasts of the first hour of the "Today" show on MSNBC.com. Arizona-based Limelight also delivers the network's "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" and "Meet the Press."

MSNBC Launches Beta of Ad-Supported Free Mobile News Service

Las Vegas - News website MSNBC.com announced on Wednesday that it plans to launch an ad-supported mobile news service, which will be free to subscribers but include video and banner ads along with news stories. The company partnered with Bellevue, Wash.-based mobile application developer Action Engine on the service, which began a three-month beta test today. MSNBC.com Mobile will offer print versions of news stories, in addition to videos of headline and business news, photo slideshows, and clips of NBC News programs including "The Today Show".
