Music PodcastsPodShow to Offer Royalty-Free Songs for Use in Music PodcastsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on August 23, 2005 - 7:27am.
San Francisco -- PodShow, a provider of podcasting software and related services that recently raised $8.8 million in venture capital, announced on Tuesday the launch of its PodSafe Music Network, which will offer royalty-free independent music for use in creating music podcasts. Listeners will also be able to rate and comment on the works of artists and producers contributing to the network. Unlike streaming radio shows, few major labels and artists are currently licensing tracks for use in podcasts, as the songs are delivered in the unprotected MP3 format. San Francisco-based PodShow said that Absolut Vodka will co-sponsor the launch of the PodSafe Music Network.
