Online Bookseller Alibris Expands Movie & Music Offerings

Emeryville, Calif. - Online new and used bookseller Alibris announced on Thursday that it has expanded its movie and music marketplace, which now includes millions of new and used CDs and DVDs from thousands of sellers, as well as older formats including LPs, VHS tapes and Laserdiscs. The company said it tapped Macrovision's All Media Guide to add cover art and product information on the media offerings. Alibris also offers more than 75 million new and used books.

Ann Arbor, Mich. - All Media Guide (AMG), a provider of informational databases on music, movies and games, said on Tuesday that MP3tunes will use AMG technology for music recognition and discovery on its Oboe online music locker service. Michigan-based AMG also provides editorial content, technologies and data to iTunes, Google, Yahoo and AOL.

All Media Guide Teams With LyricFind to Add Lyrics to Music Database

Ann Arbor, Mich. - All Media Guide, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and games, announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with LyricFind to offer lyric search and display capabilities. LyricFind has licensed lyrics from over 1,700 publishers, which will be available to retailers and device manufacturers using All Media Guide's database. The deal also enables AMG to resell LyricFind services to its customers, while LyricFind may provide basic AMG data to its clients.

All Media Guide Acquires Music Recommendations Firm MoodLogic

Ann Arbor, Mich. - All Media Guide, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and video games, announced on Monday that it has acquired MoodLogic, a developer of music recommendation, organization and playlist software. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Michigan-based All Media Guide said that MoodLogic will maintain its current headquarters in San Francisco. "We are pairing our expert editorial and biographical content with community-generated analysis and reactions," said AMG president Karl Ryser. "MoodLogic's ability to normalize, organize, and clean this feedback through advanced data mining technologies is unmatched. These two information sources, combined with MoodLogic's advanced playlisting technologies and AMG's media recognition technologies, now form the basis of the next generation in content management systems."

WiderThan Licenses All Media Guide Content for Mobile Distribution

Seoul, Korea - Wider Than, a provider of mobile entertainment services for wireless carriers, announced on Wednesday that it has licensed All Media Guide's database of album art, artist biographies and album reviews for distribution over its wireless platform. All Media Guide's database, which includes information on over 800,000 artists and 6.9 million tracks, will be available to WiderThan customers like Korea's SK Telecom, Cingular, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Tokyo - All Media Guide, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and other topics, announced on Monday that it teamed with Japan's Rainbow Partners to launch Tapestry, a playlist recommendation engine designed for use in online music stores, mobile services and consumer electronics devices. The service offers playlist recommendations based on over 6,200 musical, genres, styles, themes, moods, instruments, years and other descriptors.
