New York - Muze, a provider of informational databases on music, movies and other media, said on Tuesday that its MuzeTunes service has now streamed over 7.5 billion digital song samples for the company's retail, Internet and mobile services customers. Launched in 2001, the Muze service now powers streaming samples for more than 75 clients, including Amazon, Yahoo, AOL, CD Universe, House of Blues and Nellymoser. The company was founded by former Muze editor Paul Parriera and Peter Krause, a managing editor for the company. The Tactic Company also plans to introduce its own Web and mobile products. New York - Muze, a provider of informational databases on music, movies, books and games, on Tuesday announced that its Open Media Exchange platform will be used to power a new subscription-based mobile music service for wireless carrier O2 Germany. Users can download directly over-the-air, or first to a PC and then transfer tracks to their phones. The service supports progressive playback, meaning consumers can listen to a song while it's being downloaded. Muze and O2 also partnered with MTV to offer MTV's Top Ten tracks of the week for dual-delivery download to PCs and mobile devices. San Mateo, Calif. - MixerCast, an online media network that lets allows mixing of user-generated content with professionally-produced content, announced on Tuesday that it has signed agreements with content providers including Muze, Pump Audio, National Geographic and Getty Images. Los Angeles - Nellymoser, a provider of mobile media programming and delivery technology, announced on Monday a partnership with Muze, a provider of informational databases on music, movies, games and books. Under the deal, Nellymoser will distribute mobile versions of Muze's descriptive media data, in addition to the company's catalog of over 2 million licensed tracks, 5 million licensed streaming song samples and 40,000 movie trailers to wireless carriers operating mobile storefronts.

Las Vegas - Gracenote, a provider of CD and digital song identification services, announced on Thursday that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Muze, a provider of informational databases on music, movies, books and games, to integrate the two companies' services. The combined Gracenote and Muze offering will bring up Muze's album art, album reviews and artist biographies when users search CD song titles using Gracenote's database of over 4 million CDs and 55 million tracks. The companies said the combined service can be used in consumer electronics, mobile devices, PCs and automotive entertainment devices. Berkeley, Calif.-based Gracenote said its MusicID service was used by 150 million consumers in 2005, through applications including Apple's iTunes; Muze data is utilized in music retail kiosks and digital cable radio services.

La Jolla, Calif. -- Venture capital firm Enterprise Partners announced on Thursday that it has acquired New York-based Muze, a provider of informational databases on music, movies, books and video games to online and traditional retailers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 1990, Muze was subsequently owned by John W. Kluge and the Metromedia Company. Customers of the company's data on CDs, DVDs, video games and other media include eBay, Yahoo, Borders, RealNetworks, Best Buy and Overstock.com. "Over the past 15 years, Muze has painstakingly developed a world-class library of meta-data that covers the entire range of entertainment content," said Enterprise Partners managing director. "As the acquisition of digital media content has exploded and digital collections have expanded, people are facing the headache of organizing and finding what they want. Muze data is the key that unlocks the promise of digital media."
