Los Angeles - Sony Electronics (NYSE: SNE) said on Tuesday that its Digital Cinema Solutions and Services group has signed a deal to equip movie theater owner Muvico Entertainment's existing and new complexes with Sony's 4K digital cinema projection systems. The deal also includes LCD displays in lobby and concession areas; VAIO computers; PlayStation gaming systems; and security cameras. Muvico has 13 locations and a total of 248 screens in the U.S.

Park Ridge, N.J. - Movie exhibitor Muvico announced on Wednesday that it plans to build the first theater complex with Sony's 4K digital cinema projectors in all theaters, the initial step in converting the chain's 12 theaters to digital technology. The 18-screen facility is set to open in the Chicago area in August.
