Nokia Enables Wi-Fi Skype Calls on N800 Internet Tablet

Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced on Wednesday that the Skype Internet-based telephone service is now available on its Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, allowing users to make voice calls over the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection with the device. "Our users are no longer just using Skype on their computer desktops. With the growth of mobile devices and WiFi, consumers expect to be connected wherever they are, at the office, at home or on the move," said Eric Lagier, Skype's head of business development for mobile.

Espoo, Finland - Nokia on Tuesday introduced its Nokia N800 Internet Tablet, a portable, handheld computer with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support that can be used for Internet browsing, e-mail, Internet calling and media playback. The $399 device, which sports a 4.1-inch widescreen touch display, can also access a library of over 3 million songs from RealNetworks' Rhapsody service over any Wi-Fi connection.
