New York
- Actress Natalie Portman on Thursday announced the launch of MakingOf.com, a
site that aims to offer behind-the-scenes looks into the creation of movies
from the perspective of the creators themselves. The site launches with 40
interviews from Hollywood players including
Ron Howard, Michel Gondry, Don Roos and Marc Forster. "When friends visit
me on film sets, I am always reminded how intriguing and lucky it is to
experience filming up close," said Portman. "At MakingOf our goal is
to bring that up-close experience to everyone, including the ever-increasing
number of self-taught filmmakers, who find audiences for their films using new
opportunities for video-sharing online."

Buzz Watch: Paul McCartney and Natalie Portman Debutes Music Video on YouTubeAuthored by Jay Baage on May 24, 2007 - 10:00am.
The 64-year-old former Beatles man Paul McCartney shows that he is down with new media when he set the world premiere for the music video for "Dance Tonight," a track from McCartney's new studio album, "Memory Almost Full." on YouTube.com yesterday. Also, he snagged moviestar Natalie Portman and that guy from Pirates of the Caribbean to star in the video. The connection with Natalie portman appearently came through his fashion designer-daughter, Stella. The song is not half bad and the video has already had over 123,000 views.
Natalie Portman Goes VC HuntingAuthored by Scott Goldberg on May 8, 2007 - 8:41am.
According to Valleywag, actress Natalie Portman is looking for funding. Not a new idea by any stretch, she’s hoping to begin a site that documents her personal and work life. Apparently Charles River Ventures met with her to discuss details. It’s all part of a growing trend in Hollywood. Will Ferrell and Sequoia Capital joined forces to create Funny or Die, a video site that features short content from the comedian as well as other Hollywood personalities. Portman’s interest in an internet reality series brings to mind LonelyGirl15, whose act remains popular. With a similar format and a decidedly more famous face in front of the camera, the product seems enticing. Will anyone watch? Does it matter?
