Redstone Sells Majority Stake in Midway Games

New York - Sumner Redstone, whose National Amusements holding company controls Viacom (NYSE: VIA), CBS, Paramount Pictures and other media assets, is expected to announce on Monday that he will sell its 87% majority stake in Midway Games (NYSE: MWY) to investor Mark Thomas, The Wall Street Journal reported. National Amusements will receive just $100,000 in cash for the struggling game publisher, while Thomas will also assume $70 million in secured and unsecured debt.

Midway Gets $40M to Support Manufacturing of Fall Games

Chicago - Video game publisher Midway Games (NYSE: MWY) announced on Friday that it has secured a factoring agreement with parent company National Amusements that will provide the company with up to $40 million to offset the cost of manufacturing its fall 2008 games lineup.

National Amusements Taps National CineMedia for In-Theater Programming

Centennial, Colo. - National CineMedia (NCM), a provider of in-theater digital programming and advertising, said on Tuesday that it has signed an agreement with movie exhibitor National Amusements, to offer live and pre-recorded events in 25 of its theaters in multiple U.S. markets. National Amusements will offer music, sports and other entertainment events from NCM's Fathom division over its Cinecast network. NCM said its Cinecast network will soon exceed 300 theaters, including many owned by NCM backers AMC, Cinemark USA and Regal Entertainment.

National Amusements Adds 20 Real D 3D Digital Cinema Screens

Dedham, Mass. - Movie exhibitor National Amusements, which counts 1,500 screens in the U.S., U.K., Latin America and Russia, announced on Thursday an agreement with 3D digital cinema provider Real D, to install an additional 20 projection systems in its theaters. After the installations, National Amusements will count a total of 45 Real D-equipped screens.

Thomson to Install Digital Cinema Systems for National Amusements

Burbank, Calif. - French electronics firm Thomson announced on Tuesday that its Technicolor Digital Cinema unit has signed an agreement with movie theater owner National Amusements, to install and maintain digital cinema systems in at least 120 theaters.

IMAX, National Amusements to Open Theaters in Russia

Toronto - IMAX Corporation on Monday announced plans to expand its large-screen theaters into Russia, through an agreement with Rising Star Media, a joint venture between National Amusements and Soquel Ventures.
