Los Angeles - Continuing a string of acquisitions, National Lampoon said on Thursday that it has acquired ZingFu.com, a provider of "widgetized social content," for an undisclosed sum. Launched in 2005, ZingFu lets users create cards, pets and 'zings' from their own photos and share them via social platforms and email. Los Angeles-based National Lampoon also recently purchased DrunkUniversity.com, CollegeHangover.com, Comedy Express and AllModelZone.com.

Los Angeles - Comedy purveyor National Lampoon on Tuesday announced its acquisition of AllModelZone.com, a social network for people involved in the modeling industry, from Alle Von Technologies for an undisclosed sum.

National Lampoon Launches Audio Label

Los Angeles - Comedy purveyors National Lampoon on Tuesday announced the launch of a new audio label, National Lampoon Records, that aims to release at least twelve titles per year, including at least six original and up to six acquired titles. "National Lampoon has a rich history in the audio space, starting with the National Lampoon Radio Hour back in the early '70s, and featuring Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and Bill Murray, along with the many other comedy geniuses of our time," said CEO Daniel Laikin. "National Lampoon has produced a number of Grammy nominated comedy albums and we look forward to building on that legacy."

National Lampoon Acquires Comedy Express

Los Angeles - Comedy producer National Lampoon announced on Monday that it has acquired the assets of Comedy Express, a multi-platform comedy media company, for an undisclosed sum. The broadband, mobile and TV comedy content features on Comedy Express will be integrated into National Lampoon's broad young adult distribution platforms, which it says reaches nearly one in four 18-24 year-old U.S. college students.

Los Angeles - Comedy producer National Lampoon announced on Tuesday that it has retained the services of American Capital Ventures to provide investor relations for the company. "Our goal is to extend our powerful brand recognition within the media and entertainment industry to Wall Street," said National Lampoon CEO Daniel Laikin. "The growth of our Internet and digital strategy, combined with our return to producing top notch comedy classics with a continuous cycle of multiple revenue streams, is a powerful message we need to convey to current and potential investors."

National Lampoon Launches Broadband Video Distribution Network

Los Angeles - National Lampoon this week announced the formation of a broadband video network that will distribute its programming with new partners including YouTube, Joost, Lycos, Veoh, GoFish, Handheld Entertainment and BiggyTV. The National Lampoon Video Network will supplement existing distribution partnership the company has with AOL Video and Brightcove, as well as its own NationalLampoon.com and TogaTV.com portals.

EMI Group, the third largest music company in the world, announced on Thursday that Jason Flom has been promoted to head the newly formed record label, The Capitol Music Group, which is a merger of EMI’s Capitol and Virgin record labels in the U.S., also announced today. Flom joined EMI as Chief Executive of Virgin Records America in November 2005 and will report to EMI Group Chief Executive Eric Nicoli. Andy Slater, who had been Chief Executive of Capitol Records has resigned from his post.

Los Angeles - National Lampoon announced on Monday the launch of a video-sharing and social networking site, KnuckleheadVideo.com. Powered by technology from New York-based KickApps, the site will feature content categories for extreme sports bloopers, "drunken debauchery" and "the self-explanatory 'show us your butts'." KnuckleheadVideo.com will also feature exclusive video from director Sam Maccarone, and will also sponsor an online contest that will award a walk-on role in an upcoming National Lampoon film.

Los Angeles - National Lampoon announced on Monday that it has formed a new "incubation" studio, which will develop, produce and acquire content for all of the company's online, TV, radio film and other media properties. The company recently launched TogaTV.com, a broadband entertainment site. Los Angeles-based National Lampoon said that writers interested in its National Lampoon Incubation Studios can find an overview of the program and directions on how to submit their work on its website.

Los Angeles - National Lampoon announced on Tuesday the launch of its first broadband programming channel. "National Lampoon Toga!" will feature elements from the company's National Lampoon College television network, as well as from its library of films and TV programming. The company partnered with Brightcove to provide video distribution, ad delivery and asset management for the broadband TV service.
