Well, it’s official: Christmas is here. Garmin, a navigation equipment company, got a two-month jump on the holiday this weekend with a Christmas-themed commercial during Sunday NFL television programming (and possibly elsewhere, though I wouldn’t know because it was Sunday, and only one thing is on my television on Sundays). I never thought Christmas ads would arrive before Halloween, but that’s what happens, I guess, when you’re marketing a product with a lot of competition. The commercial campaign arrived on the heels of an October 26th announcement that the company has adopted a new logo and will open a store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago on November 11th.
