CBS to Offer HD Video Player for NCAA March Madness

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS-owned (NYSE: CBS) CBSSports.com and the NCAA said on Tuesday that they will offer a new, high-definition video player for CBS' NCAA March Madness on Demand free live webcasting service. Microsoft's (NASD: MSFT) Silverlight video platform will power the new video system, which is said to deliver up to 1.5 Mbps connections, up from the standard player's 550 Kbps speed.

CBS to Stream Entire NCAA Basketball Tournament

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - CBS' (NYSE: CBS) CBSSports.com said on Monday that, for the first time, this year it will offer all 63 games of the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship -- including the championship game -- via its broadband NCAA March Madness on Demand service. Previously, the video player had provided online access only to the first several rounds of the tournament. Last year, the streaming service attracted 1.38 million total unique users during the tournament.
