France's Neuf Cegetel Offers Unlimited Universal Music Downloads

Paris - French broadband access provider Neuf Cegetel has announced plans to offer unlimited downloads from Universal Music's catalog to subscribers of its $39 per month bundled Internet, voice and digital TV offering, MarketWatch reported. The offer includes downloads in any of one of nine musical genres; for an extra around $6.70 per month, subscribers can have unlimited downloads from all nine genres. The tracks will come with DRM protection, and consumers will have to maintain their subscription to Neuf Cegetel in order to maintain access to their downloads.

Time Warner to Sell AOL France to Neuf Cegetel for $365 Million

Dulles, Va. - Just three days after announcing a deal to sell its AOL Germany unit, media giant Time Warner said on Thursday that it has agreed to sell its AOL France Internet access business to Neuf Cegetel for $365 million in cash. Under the deal, the French company will acquire AOL France's 500,000 broadband customers, as well as the 500-employee business that manages its customer service operations.
