Internet Video Delivery Firm Narrowstep Names New CEO

London - Narrowstep, a provide of Internet-based video content delivery services, announced on Wednesday that it has appointed Stephen Beaumont as its new chief executive. Beaumont replaces Iolo Jones, who will remain on as chief strategy officer and as a board member. Previously, Beaumont held executive positions with Parker Pen, Gillette and Sanford.

Campus P2P Service Cdigix Raises Venture Capital, Names New CEO

Seattle - Cdigix, a provider of campus digital music and movie download services to over 30 colleges and universities, announced on Thursday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in a new round of venture capital financing, and that it has named former RealNetworks president Larry Jacobson as its new CEO. The investment round was led by Meritage Private Equity Funds and Novak Biddle Venture Partners, with additional participation from Iron Gate Capital. The new funds will be used to accelerate development and marketing of its services, and to increase content offerings. Finally, the company announced that it is in the process of moving its headquarters from Englewood, Colo. to Seattle, Wash.

Nokia Names Kallasvuo as New CEO

Helsinki -- Finland-based Nokia, the largest mobile-handset maker in the world, announced on Monday that Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, who currently heads the company's mobile phone business unit, will be appointed as its next president and chief operating officer on Oct. 1, and as chief executive officer next June. Nokia said acting CEO Jorma Ollila, who has served as CEO for 13 years and chairman for six years, would continue as chairman and CEO until June 1, 2006, at which time he will become non-executive chairman of Nokia's board. "We are pleased that (Ollila) has agreed to remain as the chairman of the board," said Nokia Vice Chairman Paul Collins. "This will provide for an orderly transition while giving the company access to his understanding of our business, our industry and its challenges and opportunities."

Friendster Names Former NBC President as New CEO

Mountain View, Calif. -- Friendster, a social networking site with over seven million members, announced on Thursday that it has named former NBC Entertainment president Scott Sassa as its new CEO. Former CEO and company founder Jonathan Abrams will remain company chairman. Sassa served as president of NBC for the past three years, and also helped launch seven networks within Turner Entertainment Group, including TNT and Cartoon Network. "Over the past several months, Friendster has been building the foundation for a strong advertising model, and we believe Scott will be instrumental in helping the company develop a great business," said Tim Koogle, former CEO of Yahoo and Friendster board member and investor.
