Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive Taps Brightcove for Web Video

Arlington, Va. - Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI), the online publishing unit of The Washington Post Company, said on Tuesday that it has partnered with Massachusetts-based Internet TV firm Brightcove to launch ad-supported Internet video channels across its websites.

New York - Newsweek said this week that it has promoted national affairs editor Tom Watson to managing editor of Newsweek.com. Watson joined Newsweek in 2001 and has won three ASME National Magazine Awards.

Hollywood talent and literary agency UTA announced today that Adam Ware will be joining the company in the newly created position of Head of Business Development. Ware will focus on new investment opportunities and joint ventures for the company with a specific interest in the new media sector. He will report to UTA Board member Jeremy Zimmer and will work alongside Brent Weinstein, the agency's Head of Digital Media. Ware will interface with all departments at the company including the agency’s newly announced UTA Online division. Prior to joining UTA, Ware specialized in new digital businesses and served in various senior management positions in the launches of the FOX and UPN networks, as well as Barry Diller’s CityVision channel brand.

WPNI Debuts Mobile Sites for Washington Post, Newsweek, Slate

Arlington, Va. - Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive (WPNI), the online publishing unit of The Washington Post, said on Tuesday that it has launched free mobile Internet sites for washingtonpost.com, Newsweek.com and Slate. WPNI said that it plans to add additional functionality in the coming weeks, including more alert options, email and additional photo content.
