Here are my initial impressions after the first day of rubbing shoulders with roughly 140,000 attendees and exhibitors (as well as the occasional celebrity like CSI-Miami's David Caruso) in the 1.85 million square feet of exhibition space.

In the “duh” category, senior analyst Paul Verna predicts in an eMarketer report, "Video Game Advertising: Getting to the Next Level," that “in-game advertising will evolve in scope and sophistication, offering new platforms for marketers, new business opportunities for technology providers and vital revenue for game developers, who have struggled with the escalating production costs of increasingly complex games."

Montreal, Canada - Electronic Arts has announced plans to publish "Boogie," an original music-based title, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii in 2007. The game will take advantage of the Wii's motion-sensing remote, incorporating karaoke and dance elements as players star in their own music videos. The title is being developed at EA Montreal, which also created "SSX Blur" and "Army of Two." Buzz Watch: A First Look at Nintendo Wii News ChannelAuthored by Jay Baage on January 27, 2007 - 10:08am.
Nintendo Wii has become the hip new game console of choice for the Web 2.0 crowd. Nintendo is also experimenting with using the connected platform to bridge into other forms of content. Here is a first look of the interface, taken by a camcorder directly pointed at the TV. The quality is not great, but it gives you a good idea of this cool new way of delivering news:
