New York - Baseball fans didn't wait to get home to check in on their favorite sport on opening day, according to new figures from Internet research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. The firm said that at-work daily traffic to MLB.com grew 170% on April 3 over the previous Monday, from 373,000 unique visitors to 1.0 million. All told, the site drew 1.6 million unique visitors on Opening Day. For the week ending April 2, traffic to the site was up 25%, compared with the previous week.

Washington - Nearly 26 million more people became wireless subscribers last year, breaking a previous 12-month growth record in the U.S. that was set in June, according to new figures from wireless association CTIA. The 25.7 million new subscriptions increased the total number of wireless customers in America to 207.9 million at the end of 2005, up about 14% from the prior year. Revenues from wireless data services also jumped more than 86%, while wireless minutes used jumped by more than a third to 1.5 trillion.

Carlsbad, Calif. - NTN Buzztime, a provider of interactive TV games in bars and restaurants, and on cable TV systems, announced on Friday that it plans to introduce cross-platform games that allow players to compete using either their TV remote controls or a PC. Carlsbad, Calif.-based Buzztime's single and multiplayer interactive TV games are currently available to 300,000 subscribers, from providers including Time Warner and Comcast; the company's games are also offered in over 4,000 restaurants and bars.

Silver Spring, Md. - TV One, the two-year-old cable network geared toward adult African American viewers, said on Friday that it has added nearly 4 million new subscriber households this year and is now available in 28.4 million U.S. households. The network is backed primarily by Radio One and Comcast.
