The 12th Annual Webby Awards Gala, which recognize the best and most important sites on the Web, was held June 10th at Cipriani Wall St. Embedded above is a good video synopsis of events from the Wall Street Journal. I think that it's noteworthy that much of the web content being recognized was in one way or another Barack Obama endorsements. It is hard to say how much these websites and videos had to do with Obama clinching the Democratic presidential nomination, but I think it's fair to say that it definently shows the growing importance of new media in determining the outcome of major political events.

Beet.tv Interview With Tim Shey, Co-Founder of Next New Networks

It was announced this morning that Next New Networks (NNN), a developer of niche online TV networks, has acquired BarelyPolitical.com, the political satire site responsible for the "Obama Girl" viral videos. Embedded above is an interview that Beet.tv did a couple of weeks back with Tim Shey, co-founder of NNN, in which he outlines the company strategy.
