Report: U.K. Digital Album Sales Up 70%; Singles Up 42%

London - Digital music sales in the U.K. were up across the board in the first quarter of 2007, with digital album sales rising 69.3% from the same period a year ago, and digital singles up 42.3%, according to data compiled by the Official U.K. Charts Company.

U.K. to Add Streaming, Download Data to Music Charts

London - The Official U.K. Charts Company is set to begin adding streaming and download data from U.K. music subscription services later this year, Billboard reported. Data will be provided by services including Vodafone's MusicStation, MSN's Music Box and Napster UK. "The launch of this chart will provide valuable visibility to subscription-based models, about which there is great excitement within the business and which are expected to play an increasingly significant part in consumers' music consumption over the coming 12 months and more," said Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official U.K. Charts Company.
