Online Tutoring Firm TutorVista Secures $10.75 Million in Second Round

San Francisco – TutorVista, a San Francisco-based provider of leading online tutoring and test preparation services, said on Wednesday that it has landed $10.75 million in its second round of funding, which included a $7 million investment from Lightspeed Venture Partners. Sequoia Capital India and Silicon Valley Bank also participated in the round, which will allow the company to expand its services and operations worldwide.

Common Sense Media Lands $4.25 Million Funding Commitment

San Francisco - Common Sense Media, a San Francisco-based organization focused on improving the impact of the media on kids and families, said on Wednesday that Omidyar Network has committed to investing $4.25 million in the organization over the next three years.

TiVo Launches KidZone TV Parental Control Service

Alviso, Calif. - TiVo on Thursday announced the availability of its TiVo KidZone service, which allows parents to automatically record family-friendly programming line-ups and prevent childrens' access to specific programs or channels.
