San Francisco - Video game publisher Ubisoft has shipped its "Paradise" PC game to retailers. The title was developed by designer Benoit Sokal and his France-based White Bird Productions Studio.

Funkitron Releases "Poker Superstars II" PC Game

Boxford, Mass. - Game developer Funkitron on Monday released its PC game "Poker Superstars II," the sequel to its title based on the poker tournament broadcast on Fox Sports Net and NBC. The title features the likenesses of 15 poker pros seen on the TV series, including Johnny Chan, Barry Greenstein and Cyndy Violette.

Electronic Arts to Publish Crytek's "Crysis" PC Game

Redwood City, Calif. - Electronic Arts said on Monday that it has signed an agreement to publish developer Crytek's "Crysis" first-person shooter PC game. Coburg, Germany-based Crytek did not furnish an expected release date for the title.

Playlogic to Ship "PRISM" Army National Guard PC Game in Q3

Amsterdam - Netherlands-based video game publisher Playlogic Entertainment said on Monday that it plans to publish its "PRISM: Threat Level Red" anti-terrorism, first-person shooter PC game, an off-shoot of a game being developed for the U.S. Army National Guard, in the third quarter of 2006. Developed by U.K.-based Rebellion in conjunction with Virginia-based Rival Interactive, Playlogic's liaison with the National Guard, the consumer PC title is a version of "PRISM: Guard Shield," a game developed for use as a recruiting tool by the U.S. Army National Guard.

Electronic Arts Discounts Some Titles, Launches PC Game Download Service

Los Angeles - Video game publisher Electronic Arts has cut prices on some of its titles by 20%, in an effort to "spur sales and thwart competition," Reuters reported, citing an analyst with Banc of America Securities. Titles now selling for $39, as opposed to $49, include "NBA Live 06," "Burnout Revenge," "NASCAR 06," "Marvel Nemesis" and "SSX On Tour"; EA is expected to discount additional titles following the Thanksgiving weekend. Separately, Redwood City, Calif.-based Electronic Arts on Monday announced the launch of an online digital distribution service that will offer full games, demos, trailers and updates for its PC titles. The first offering from the digital download service will be "Battlefield 2: Special Forces," which consumers can now pre-order and download to their PCs. The title will then be unlocked for play when it is officially released on Nov. 22.

D3Publisher Releases "Cabbage Patch Kids: Where's My Pony?" PC Game

Los Angeles - D3Publisher of America on Tuesday shipped its "Cabbage Patch Kids: Where's My Pony?" PC video game to retailers. The title is based on a license of the Cabbage Patch Kids property from Original Appalachian Artworks; a version for Nintendo Game Boy Advance is due for release in early 2006.

Vivendi to Co-Publish "Joint Task Force" PC Game

Los Angeles - Vivendi Universal Games said on Friday that it has extended a worldwide publishing agreement with HD Publishing, to include the rights to co-publish and distribute HD's "Joint Task Force" PC game. Developed by Mithis Entertainment, the game will be released in 2006 under VU Games' Sierra brand.

Jamdat Mobile Launches Cell Phone Version of "Doom" PC Game

Los Angeles - Wireless entertainment publisher Jamdat Mobile on Thursday announced the launch of "Doom RPG," a mobile roleplaying game for cell phones based on the popular PC game from id Software. Co-developed by id and Fountainhead Entertainment, the game will be distributed by Jamdat to a range of U.S. wireless carriers.

RealNetworks, Reader's Digest Launch "Super Word Power" PC Game

Seattle - RealNetworks, a provider of media delivery technology, on Wednesday launched a downloadable PC game version of "Super Word Power," based on the popular word game published in Reader's Digest. The $19 PC game will be made available on RealNetworks' RealArcade subscription game service, and from the Reader's Digest website.

3 UK to Offer Mobile Version of "Civilization" PC Game

London - 3 UK Ltd., the U.K.-based 3G subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa, announced that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Com2uS, to offer the Korea-based developer's mobile version of the popular PC videogame "Civilization" from Sid Meier's Firaxis Games.
