New York - News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) announced on Thursday that it has hired Chase Carey, CEO of the DirecTV Group (NASD: DTV), to be its new deputy chairman, president and chief operating officer.

Los Angeles - Following four weeks of private talks between Screen Actors Guild (SAG) interim executive David White and several top studio executives, including Disney (NYSE: DIS) CEO Bob Iger and News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) president Peter Chernin, the two sides are "very close" to resolving most of the sticking points holding up a labor contract deal, the Los Angeles Times reported, citing "people familiar with the situation."

New York - Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation (NYSE: NWS) announced on Tuesday that president and COO Peter Chernin, also CEO of the Fox Group, will leave the company when his contract expires on June 30. "Peter's contributions to the Company over the past two decades have been immeasurable," said News Corp. chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch. "It is understandable that at this stage in his life he would want to do something new after serving News Corporation and our shareholders so well for so long."

News Corp.: No Plans to Pull Fox TV Shows From iTunes

Warsaw - News Corporation has no plans to pull its TV programming from Apple's iTunes Store, unlike fellow producer NBC Universal, which recently did so after negotiations with Apple over pricing and other issues stalled, Reuters reported.
