Analysis: Facebook, Slide.com and Photography

I noticed Michael Arrington's post on Facebook shutting down a Slide.com application and checked Hitwise data to compare Facebook and MySpace clickstream data in particular to Photography websites. The differences are interesting and highlight different interests of users as well as a different profile of user. Facebook sends far less traffic to Photography websites than does MySpace. Last week, 0.67% of downstream visits from Facebook went to Photography websites compared to 4.26% from MySpace.

Nude Photos of ‘Desperate Housewives” Star Marcia Cross Surface

Ah, yes, another day, another set of nude photos found in the garbage of a celebrity.  Today’s victim is Marcia Cross, red-headed star of Desperate HousewivesTMZ reported in October 2006 that the photos, taken by Cross’s husband and “mistakenly” thrown out, only to be discovered by the garbage men and sold to the highest bidder, have finally hit the web (see them here).

Sony Identified as Winning Bidder for Technology Assets of IPIX

Reston, Va. - Electronics giant Sony is the "anonymous" company that won a recent auction for the assets of IPIX, a Reston, Va.-based imaging technology firm that filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July, SecurityinfoWatch.com reported.

Canon to Halt Development of Film Cameras in Favor of Digital

Tokyo - Following the lead of fellow camera and film companies including Nikon and Konica Minolta, Japan's Canon said on Thursday that it will not develop new film-based cameras, choosing instead to focus on models that support digital photography, Reuters reported.
