Panasonic Web-ready HDTV to Feature Picasa, YouTube Access

Las Vegas - Consumer electronics firm Panasonic said on Tuesday that its new VIERA line of Internet-connected plasma televisions will come equipped with integrated access to Google's Picasa Web Albums online photo-sharing service, as well as videos from YouTube. The first generation of the devices is slated to ship in the spring.

Google Debuts iPhone-Optimized Version of Picasa Photo Service

Mountain View, Calif. - Google (NASD: GOOG) this week introduced a version of its Picasa photo organizing, editing and Web hosting service optimized for Apple's iPhone. Users can point their iPhone's Safari browser to Picasaweb.Google.com, and view all of the albums and slideshows they've uploaded to Picasa, as well as any comments posted by friends.

TiVo Users Can Access Online Photos on Photobucket, Picasa

Alviso, Calif. - TiVo (NASD: TIVO) announced on Monday that it has partnered with online photo-hosting services Photobuck and Picasa Web Albums, to allow TiVo subscribers to access their own photos and those of friends via their broadband-connected TiVo boxes. TiVo users will also be able to search community photos of interest by keyword through TiVo's search interface.

Google Acquires Digital Photo Management Firm Picasa

Mountain View, Calif. -- Search engine giant Google announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Picasa, a Pasadena, Calif.-based provider of digital photo management technology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Founded in 2001, Picasa partnered with Google in May to make it easier for users of Google's Blogger service to publish photos to their blogs. "Picasa enables users to easily manage and share digital photographs, and its technologies complement Google's ongoing mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," said Jonathan Rosenberg, vice president of product management for Google.
