San Jose, Calif. - PlayPhone, a mobile entertainment content distributor, announced on Wednesday that it has merged with U.K.-based Pitch Entertainment Group.

Lycos Taps PlayPhone to Power New LYCOSmobile Portal

Waltham, Mass. - Web portal Lycos on Tuesday announced the launch of LYCOSmobile, a mobile content site offering hundreds of mobile games, wallpapers and ringtones. The company partnered with PlayPhone to develop the site, which will offer content on a subscription basis for $9.99 per month.

RealNetworks, PlayPhone Launch Mobile Games Subscription Service

Seattle - RealNetworks announced on Wednesday the launch of a mobile games and entertainment subscription service that will feature titles from its RealArcade online service. The company partnered with direct-to-consumer mobile distributor PlayPhone on the service, which will offer more than 150 games and thousands of ringtones and wallpaper graphics for cell phones. RealArcade Mobile will be available to Cingular, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile subscribers for an additional $9.99 per month, which will be added to their monthly mobile bills.

PlayPhone to Develop Mobile Games Portal for Sega

San Francisco - Sega of America said on Wednesday that it has partnered with PlayPhone to develop a Sega Mobile content channel for North American mobile phone users. San Jose, Calif.-based PlayPhone previously distributed Sega Mobile content to retail channels, and will now create a direct-to-consumer portal for the Japanese video game developer.

Wireless Entertainment Publisher PlayPhone Announces Launch

San Jose, Calif. -- PlayPhone, a publisher of wireless entertainment content, on Tuesday announced its launch. The company announced strategic alliances with Japanese game manufacturer Sammy and Latin American wireless entertainment distributor Atrativa, and said its ringtones are already available in pre-paid packs at 4,000 retail locations including Rite Aid and Fred Meyers. San Jose, Calif.-based PlayPhone expects to have at least fifteen branded packs in more than 10,000 stores by the end of the third quarter of 2003, with retail packs featuring mobile Java games launching in the second quarter of this year. The packs are universally accessible and will work with most phones from all of the major North American carriers.
