Sony: PlayStation Network Passes 20 Million Members

Foster City, Calif. - Sony Computer Entertainment said on Wednesday that its PlayStation Network online game service now counts over 20 million registered users worldwide, and has generated more than $180 million in sales since its launch just over two years ago. The PlayStation Network now offers more than 14,500 pieces of digital content, including over 5,900 movies and television episodes. Sony added that its PlayStation Home virtual world now claims over 4 million users.

Sony to Debut "PlayStation Home" 3D Social Gaming Community

Tokyo - Sony Computer Entertainment (NYSE: SNE) announced on Wednesday that a beta version of its "PlayStation Home" 3D social gaming community service for the PlayStation 3 will debut worldwide tomorrow. The free download of the basic service will enable gamers to create avatars and explore a virtual community where they can communicate via text or voice chat, play mini-games, watch videos and participate in special events.

Sony Delays Launch of PlayStation Home Service Again

Tokyo - Sony (NYSE: SNE) has once again delayed the launch of its "Home" 3D virtual community for the PlayStation 3 console, now saying the service will launch for users in the fall. The service had initially been slated to launch last fall, but pushed the debut until this spring.
