Seattle - Casual game developer and publisher PopCap Games said on Thursday that it has posted its "Heavy Weapon: Atomic Tank" title for purchase and download on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade service for the Xbox 360. The company said it added several multiplayer modes to the game exclusively for the Xbox 360 version. Seattle - Online casual games developer and publisher PopCap Games on Wednesday announced results of an online survey of 2,100 of its customer base, which found that 71% are 40 or older, and 47% are 50 or older. Additionally, the survey found that 88% of respondents derive stress relief from playing casual games, and 41% cited stress relief/relaxation as their most important reason for playing -- more than twice the number that said they played for entertainment (27%). Seattle-based PopCap's casual games website attracts 5.5 million unique visitors per month.

Seattle - PopCap Games, a developer and publisher of casual games, announced on Wednesday that it has opened an international office in Dublin, Ireland. Seattle-based PopCap said the new facilities will host a development studio and also serve as a hub for its European and Asian business activities. Localized versions of PopCap games are slated to launch in some foreign markets this quarter, and international versions of its website will launch in the first half of the year.

Seattle -- Video game developer PopCap Games announced on Thursday that it has acquired fellow developer Sprout Games. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Both Seattle-based companies develop mainly casual online and downloadable games; PopCap's titles, including "Bejeweled" and "Zuma," have been downloaded over 50 million times; Sprout Games' "Feeding Frenzy" claims more than 10 million downloads. Following the acquisition, Sprout's development team will move into PopCap's Seattle offices.
