Sprint Launches Spanish-language Mobile TV Service

Overland Park, Kan. - Sprint on Thursday launched Sprint TV En Vivo, which it says is the first Spanish-language live mobile TV service offered in the U.S. The service will offer a mix of Spanish- and English-language channels designed for the Hispanic community, including ESPN Deportes, Discovery en Espanol, Sorpresa and ABC News Now. Sprint TV En Vivo is powered by MobiTV, and will be available for $9.99 per month.

Sprint Nextel Launches Wireless "MyFoodPhone" Service

Reston, Va. - Hoping to appeal to diet-crazed Americans, Sprint Nextel on Tuesday launched a new service that lets Sprint subscribers with camera phones track their food consumption and remotely access nutritional counseling. The service, known as MyFoodPhone, prompts uses to take pictures of the food they eat at each meal or snack and send them in for review by a nutritional advisor. Customers, who pay $9.99 a month, then receive video feedback on their eating habits biweekly. Clients also can log data such as weight, exercise and calories burned on a special website to track their progress through their phones

USA Wireless Introduces $49 Universal Mobile Phone Game Controller

Las Vegas - USA Wireless on Wednesday introduced its Mobile Chaos M-PLAY, a universal controller for mobile phone gaming. The $49 accessory works with most cell phone models, and allows players to control mobile game titles with a device more similar to a controller for console video games.

iPREPpress Releases Merriam-Webster Dictionary for iPods

Washington Crossing, Penn. - iPREPpress, a provider of iPod-formatted content, announced on Wednesday the release of the Merriam-Webster Pocket Dictionary for the iPod. The companies have also partnered to publish an iPod-formatted thesaurus, rhyming dictionary, pocket atlas and dictionary of quotations. The iPod dictionary will sell for $14.95.

Alltel Launches Streaming Radio Service for Mobile Subscribers

Little Rock, Ark. - Wireless network operator Alltel, which claims 10 million subscribers, on Monday announced the launch of a commercial-free streaming radio service. Developed for Alltel by MobiTV, the Axcess Radio service will feature 40 channels and will be available for an extra $6.95 per month.
